#1 The Olympic Games, LA2028 in the 49er class, the men’s double handed skiff
I’m back to chase my Olympic dream in sailing—this time in the fast, technical, and highly competitive 49er class. I’ve teamed up with Pim van Vugt (Olympian at Tokyo 2020, multiple-time national champion across various classes), and together as Team NED911, we are fully committed to becoming the best in the world.
The 49er is an extreme test of skill, precision, and teamwork, and we are ready to push our limits to master this high-performance Olympic skiff. Over the next few years, we will dedicate everything to our pursuit of Olympic glory at LA2028, following our own vision and forging our own path.
Right now, we are laying the foundation for our campaign and building the right team—and we’re looking for like-minded partners to join us on this journey. The challenge ahead is immense, but we thrive on it.

#2 Bachelor Business Admistration with Computer Science minor at the Open Universiteit
Beyond my ambitions in sailing, I am also committed to developing myself professionally. Pursuing a degree in Business Administration provides me with a broad understanding of business strategy, decision-making, and organizational efficiency, equipping me with the skills to optimize people and resources toward common goals. Additionally, I am complementing my studies with a minor in Computer Science, expanding my analytical and technical skill set.
Studying at the Open Universiteit offers the flexibility I need to balance both my academic growth and my pursuit of excellence in sailing. This allows me to develop intellectually while also progressing at the fastest possible pace in my sport—creating the ideal foundation for both my athletic and professional future.
Past projects

The Youth Americas Cup 2024 with team Dutchsail
For a full year (September 2023 – October 2024), I dedicated myself entirely to preparing for the first-ever Dutch participation in the Youth America’s Cup as one of the helmsmen. Competing in this prestigious event, we raced in the highly advanced AC40—a cutting-edge, 40-foot foiling monohull capable of reaching speeds of over 50 knots (90+ km/h).
While the boat is sailed by a four-person crew, our preparation involved working with a larger team and organization to ensure we were as ready as possible. Since we only gained access to the AC40 a few days before the event, the majority of our training was conducted in our high-tech simulator. We spent countless hours refining our skills, analyzing data, strengthening teamwork, and building our playbook through in-depth meetings.
Beyond simulator training, we honed our foiling and match-racing skills by sailing the 69F foiling monohull, competing in keelboat match races, and training in the high-performance foiling Moth.

ILCA 7 (Laser), the Olympic men’s singlehanded dinghy
Ever since I aged out of the Optimist class at 14, my sole focus has been on becoming one of the top sailors in the ILCA fleet. Progressing through the different rig sizes as I grew stronger and more experienced, I gained a deep understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest level in a class.
Winning multiple Youth World and European Championships—including ILCA 6 European Champion (2020), ILCA 7 U19 World Champion (2021), and ILCA 7 U21 European Champion (2022)—along with multiple national titles, has given me a strong foundation to build upon.
ILCA sailing is renowned for its highly competitive fleet, physical demands, and the exceptional talent required to reach the top. These challenges have shaped me as an athlete and continue to drive me to push my limits in pursuit of excellence.

Waszp, foiling one design dinghy
Alongside my career in the ILCA class, I have also been actively competing in the foiling Waszp to further develop my skills. Foiling is the future of sailing, and I am determined to be part of it.
Winning Foiling Week in 2021 and the Junior World Championship in 2022 has proven my ability to excel at the highest level in both traditional non-foiling ILCA 7 racing and high-performance foiling competition. C
